England Golf is delighted to announce a new three-year agreement with Official Warm Weather Training Venue, Quinta do Lago.

The luxury golf resort in the Algarve, Portugal has been used as a training venue for the England Golf National Squads since 2014, where the men’s, women’s, boys’ and girls’ teams have been able to utilise the extensive driving range and practice facilities as well as the three championship golf courses, which are amongst the best in Europe.
Upgrades in recent years have seen investment in world-class practice facilities as well as an £8million sports campus promoting wellbeing and fitness, which provide the ideal location for England’s rising stars to improve their game in a temperate climate.
Nigel Edwards, Performance Director at England Golf, said: “We’re delighted to extend an already long-established relationship with an outstanding venue that supplements the needs of our top amateur players during the winter months, and this relationship will no doubt help drive more international success for our players over the coming years.”
The England Golf National Performance Programme supports over 50 of the best amateur players within the England national squads and a further 160 players within boys’ and girls’ regional squads. This programme aims to provide support to players looking to break into the top-10 of the World Amateur Golf Rankings and to transition into the professional ranks, following in the footsteps of the likes of Justin Rose, Matt Fitzpatrick and Charley Hull.
With the likes of the R&A Home Internationals, European Team Championships, the World Team Championships and a host of individual championships across the continent, Quinta do Lago provides the perfect preparation for England players ahead of a packed summer calendar.
Since its foundation in 1972, Quinta do Lago has consistently delivered on its reputation as one of the world’s premier golf resorts, with the 200-acre site sitting on the edge of the picturesque Ria Formosa Natural Park. The North, South and Laranjal courses are rated as three of the best courses in continental Europe and, as a result, the resort has played host to the Portuguese Open on no fewer than eight occasions.
Sean Moriarty, CEO of Quinta do Lago, added: “We are delighted to be extending our long-term collaboration with England Golf and to continue to welcome the best amateur golfers from England to Quinta do Lago through to 2026.
“We offer a choice of three championship golf courses, exclusive use of world-class practice facilities – including the world’s only Paul McGinley Golf Academy – and great year-round weather in the Algarve, making us the ideal location for high-quality winter training camps.”
Quinta do Lago is just 15 minutes from Faro International Airport and you can find out more about the resort by clicking here. England Golf members can now benefit from a 10% discount on accommodation to stay at The Magnolia Hotel in Quinta do Lago and the email address to contact is bookings@themagnoliahotelqdl.com.
