3 Hammers Golf Complex in Staffordshire has been crowned Facility of the Year at this year’s England Golf Awards, hosted by Mark Chapman at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate.

The facility received the award in recognition of its exceptional commitment to inclusivity, innovation, and community engagement.
For 38 years, 3 Hammers has been far more than just a golf facility - it has been a hub for the local community, welcoming people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. With a par-3 course, Jurassic Creek adventure golf, Toptracer driving range, Bistro, Learn to Play area, and Golf Academy, it provides a fun, accessible, and welcoming environment for both beginners and seasoned players alike.
At the heart of its success is a genuine passion for growing the game, with 3 Hammers partnering with schools, underprivileged groups, disability organisations, Black British Golfers, and The National Autistic Society, to ensure that golf is accessible to everyone.
Its open-door policy welcomes all - from toddler sessions for children as young as 18 months to golfers aged 90-plus. Local walking groups, dementia support groups, and social gatherings are regular visitors, reinforcing its role as an essential community space.
The facility has also played a key role in encouraging more women to take up golf, launching the first-ever Ladies Love Golf group, which now boasts 250 members of all abilities. It has also introduced Golf Sixes, inspiring the next generation of young players, and offers free junior club hire to make the sport more accessible to families.
3 Hammers’ commitment to fun, engaging experiences extends beyond golf. Visitors enjoy dinosaur puppet meet-and-greet shows, themed social nights, and free children’s activities, making it a true family-friendly venue. Schools benefit from free adventure golf sessions, complete with dinosaur fact quizzes and free junior taster lessons to spark a love for the game.
Its Golf Academy has produced 30 professionals who now work as PGA pros, club managers, and greenkeepers, including Tour Player Aaron Rai and influencers Me and My Golf, who both started their journey at 3 Hammers.
Accepting the award, Sam Hill, Business Development Manager at 3 Hammers said: "It's a great achievement as we've always tried to be pioneers for how we approach golf and how we look to grow the game. Our aim as a facility is to keep pushing forward, so to be the first facility to win this award, is something to be very proud of.
“We look at how we can reach out to the local community, it's a big part of our philosophy in how we can engage and get more people involved in golf. We work with local disability groups, local schools, we also work with an academy in Uganda, so it’s not just looking at our local community, it's looking further field as well.
“We're always looking to see how we can move the company forward, we've recently invested in the adventure golf, which again has attracted a whole new audience, so it's about how we can engage with the local community in better ways, whether that's forming better links with local schools or investing in new technology on the range or in the indoor studios.
“This is going to be celebrated with the whole team back in 3 Hammers, as want to recognise everyone's contribution to the award as it's a huge achievement for all of us.”
