Stonebridge Golf Club’s Hannah Crump has been named Participation & Development Coach of the Year at this year’s England Golf Awards, hosted by Mark Chapman at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate.

The Warwickshire golfer received the award in recognition of her exceptional commitment to growing the game and inspiring more women to take up golf.A passionate advocate for inclusivity and community, Hannah has built a thriving network of female golfers at Stonebridge in Warwickshire, helping hundreds of women feel welcome and confident on the course. Through free introductory sessions, group lessons, and fun social events, she has broken down barriers and made golf more approachable, social, and enjoyable for players of all levels.Hannah’s impact extends far beyond coaching. She has actively connected with local businesses and charities, using golf as a tool to promote community engagement, fundraisers, and networking opportunities. She mentors and supports her players, ensuring each individual feels valued and supported in their golfing journey. Her work has directly boosted female membership at Stonebridge, encouraging 25 women to take the leap and join the club, many of whom might not have had the confidence to do so otherwise. The sense of community she has fostered is clear for all to see, with players forming new friendships, taking golf trips abroad, and challenging themselves to play with a wider range of golfers.Hannah’s commitment has also helped drive increased female participation in county tournaments and club events, showing that her influence reaches far beyond Stonebridge, shaping the future of women’s golf across the region. With her passion, dedication, and innovative approach, Hannah is reshaping the future of golf, proving that with the right support and encouragement, anyone can feel at home on the course. After receiving her award, Hannah said: "It means so much to win this award, to be recognised for the work I'm doing in women's golf is really special. Looking back on winning the Women & Girls Trailblazer Award in 2022 kind of shows myself that the momentum is growing and increasing and I think every year it just really is getting bigger and better, so to be acknowledged for that is truly special.“My biggest achievements have been firstly that I started to see a real increase in lady members joining the golf club and that was a real fantastic side that women are not only trying golf, but they're also carrying on and getting involved in golf. But I think my overall highlight last year was taking 24 women on a golf trip, the first for almost all of them, so to be able to see these women not only just play occasionally, but really be invested in the game, was great.“I’d love to introduce every woman to golf and really show what this game can do and I'm trying to work hard in getting as many teams as well playing golf, looking at why maybe more female athletes don't play golf as their second sport, so for me really thinking of getting them into golf and improving that female participation. "Golf can have a negative outlook from the outside that it's an older and more kind of snobby game, but all I would argue is just look around the awards – you can see so many different people pushing this forward in so many fantastic ways.“The passion and the drive to continue to get women into sport truly comes from a place of me growing up playing with so many guys. It was great until I started working in golf and started to see how intimidating it might be for some women in a sport that is so heavily dominated by males. To be that safe place for them and that comfort that says, you know what, even if you're going to be surrounded by sport, you're being taught and learning the sport from a female, and it kind of gave them that initial comfort."For me that is truly special and if I can just make someone feel welcome and comforted and from there they learn the sport in an easier, more relaxed way, it's truly something that I'm so proud of.”
