Cosby Golf Club is proud to announce its nomination for the prestigious Women in Golf Charter Club Award at the 2026 England Golf Awards — a recognition that reflects years of committed, meaningful progress in advancing gender equity, inclusion, and opportunity across every level of the Club.
In recent years, Cosby has transformed its governance and culture to ensure women play a central role in shaping the Club’s future. Female representation on the Board, alongside a modernised constitution that opens all leadership roles — including Club President — to any gender, has embedded equality at the heart of decision‑making.
Women now contribute directly to key committees, including Greens and Playing, while the Ladies’ Section continues to thrive with its own dedicated structures for competitions and handicapping.
A standout success is the Cosheim Cup, a Solheim‑inspired match play initiative designed to build confidence and competitive skills.
The Club’s junior section also reflects this momentum, with women making up half of its organisers and three female Junior Captains appointed in the past five years.
Cosby’s commitment extends beyond the course. A revitalised Social Events Committee, with equal gender representation, has delivered a vibrant programme — from fashion shows to Oktoberfest — strengthening community bonds and ensuring all members feel welcome.
Targeted Women in Golf Charter initiatives, including women‑only coaching sessions, pre‑loved equipment schemes and accessible membership pathways, have removed barriers and encouraged new players into the game.
In 2024 alone, 50 women joined free taster sessions, with 33 progressing into the Club’s structured “Pathway into Golf” membership.
Testimonials from new members highlight the impact: “It didn’t feel like joining a club; it felt like being invited into a community,” shared 20‑year‑old Lily Burrell.
Cosby Golf Club is honoured to be recognised for its dedication to creating a more inclusive, supportive and inspiring environment for women and girls in golf — and remains committed to driving progress for years to come.
