40 players have booked their place at next week’s Brabazon Trophy, sponsored by Turkish Airlines, after the three regional qualifiers took place around the country on Tuesday.
Over 350 participants competed to earn their place in the 144-player field at Moortown Golf Club on 21-24 May.

Tricky conditions in Sussex saw just three players break par at the Southern Qualifier at Royal Ashdown Forest, but the story of the day came from 14-year-old Lucas Weisberg.
The young Wentworth golfer (pictured above) had a day to remember as he shot a composed level-par 72 to book his spot at next week’s final.
He said: “I started off weird. I hit a drive right on the 1st that was in dead heather below my feet. I nearly thinned it out of bounds but I got up and down for a great par!
“I was pretty stoked to play in the qualifier, I kept my expectations low and had a solid round. I’m pretty excited for next week, I’m just going to let the birdies and the bogeys come – everything happens – it’s golf!”
Dylan Hussey (Romford) held his nerve to fire four birdies in a score of 71 (-1), as did Abridge’s Charlie Croker, while four birdies and an eagle for Tommy Evans (Beaconsfield) saw the trio finish under-par (-1) - the only players in the field to do so.
Weisberg was one of eight to finish level-par alongside Scott Pym (Torquay), Jenson Bull (Remedy Oak), Ryan Craig (Dunstable Downs), Oliver Martin (Sand Martins), Danial Parsons (Sudbury), Henry Linley (Romford), and Ashley Watkins (Calcot Park), who all booked their places at Moortown next week.
Daniel Roberts (London), Charlie Rusbridge (Colne Valley) and Toby Knevett (Camberley Heath) also qualified with scores of 73 (+1), edging three others on countback to reach next week’s showpiece event. Check out the final leaderboard here.

Maiden ace Kai shoots way to Brabazon final
Scotsman Kai Laing (Broomieknowe, pictured above) enjoyed his first ever ace to help propel him to a score of 68 (-4) and top the pile in the Northern Qualifier at Bishop Auckland.
Five birdies and the eagle-ace were enough to see him finish a shot clear of Welshman Alex James (Royal Lytham & St Annes) and Englishman Jamie Duguid, with Luke Kelly (Ashton-under-Lyne) in 4th on -2.
Cole Self (Ringway), Jack Richardson (Durham City), Charlie Daughtrey (Rotherham) and George Davies (Harrogate) were the only other players to finish under par (-1), with Davies enjoying two eagles.
Joshua Stephens (Moortown), Nathan Ali (Cookridge Hall), Campbell Kerr (Australia) and Habib Khan (Huddersfield) all finished level-par to qualify for next week.

Isaacs stands tall at Droitwich
Andrew Isaacs (pictured above) shot the score of the day in the Midlands Qualifier at Droitwich Golf Club (Worcestershire), thanks to a 4-under 66.
The Long Sutton golfer enjoyed four birdies and a brilliant eagle on the 334-yard, par-4 9th, after driving past the pin and holing a 40-foot putt.
Alex Emms (The Vale) had earlier taken the clubhouse lead, thanks to two eagles and a birdie in a round of 67 (-3). The Worcestershire golfer, who had plenty of experience on the course, came tantalisingly close to an albatross on the par-4 8th, as his drive trickled to a foot from the hole for a tap-in eagle.
Rotherham’s Max Reynolds finished 3rd with a score of 68 (-2), which included a sublime eagle on the tight par-4, 367-yard 6th, where he drove to the edge and chipped in.
Belton Woods’ Matthew Haynes was 3-over on the front but stormed into contention after four straight birdies from holes 10-13. A tidy two on the last meant he finished with 29 (-4) on the back-nine, and 69 (-1) overall.
17-year-old Ted Hodgkinson (Bowood) also finished on -1 thanks to four birdies and an impressive eagle on the 370-yard par-4 13th, as only five of the 115-player field finished below par.
Daniel Smith (Holme Hall), Dempsie McFadyen (Sherwood Forest), and Kieran McCarthy (Ormskirk) all qualified on level-par, with McCarthy having enjoyed a whirlwind start to be 5-under through six.
A further nine players came in on +1, but it was Jack Diment (Belton Park), Marco Cruse (Royal Blackheath), Shreyas Sanmathy (Basingstoke), Charlie McKinney and Theo Baker (both Wales), who made the top 13 on countback. Check out the final leaderboard here.
