Following a dramatic week across four different countries, England’s Boys and Girls Squads both claimed silver medals, each falling to Spain in the final, while England Women secured a strong bronze, defeating Finland to finish on the podium.
Girls' Squad: Elizabeth Wilson, Annabel Peaford, Ellie Lichtenhein, Mia Ingham, Daisy Lee, Lauren Crump, India Clyburn (Manager), John Watson (Coach)
The boys (below), who were facing Spain on home soil at Barceló Montecastillo Golf Resort, defeated Italy 5-2 and Netherlands 4.5-2.5 on their way to the final, but couldn’t recover after falling 2-0 in the morning foursomes, eventually losing 5.5-1.5.
The girls (above), meanwhile, beat Italy 5.5-1.5 and France 5-2 in the quarter-final and semi-final respectively, and after splitting the morning foursomes in Zurich (Switzerland), Spain secured the final match to win the singles 3-2 and overall 4-3.
The women ended their week at PGA National Slieve Russell (Ireland) on a high with a 4.5-2.5 win over Finland. In the final match Davina Xanh, Sophia Fullbrook and Patience Rhodes all won their singles matches after Nellie Ong and Lily Hirst earned a foursomes victory on the 19th.
In a disappointing tournament for the men, they did win on the final day 3.5-1.5 versus the Netherlands, to finish 7th overall.
