Serafima Taylor (Sutton Coldfield, above) and Hanna Nordlund (Walton Heath, below) celebrated victory in their respective sections at the 2025 English Girls’ Under 16 & Under 14 Championship on a weather-affected final day at Old Fold Manor.
With thunderstorms predicted for the afternoon, tournament organisers were forced to reduce both championships to nine holes on the final day, with the Under 14s playing the front nine and the Under 16s playing the back nine in a two-tee start.
In the end, it was Taylor who prevailed in the Under 16 Championship with a final score of -11, while Nordlund’s brilliant chip-in eagle on the 9th saw her claim the plaudits in the Under 14 Championship, as she finished on -7. Check out the final leaderboards here.
Taylor, who finished 2nd in the Under 14s category one year ago, started the day on -9 with a three-shot lead over Germany’s Luisa Kristin Hartmann and England Girls’ Squad players Annabel Peaford (Walton Heath) and Lauren Crump (Hill Valley).
As the final round got underway, Hartmann, Peaford and Crump all dropped back, leaving Taylor still out in front. However, it was far from done as the challenge came in from another late-charging German in the form of Lena Marie Geier, who posted an outstanding -5 for her nine holes to push herself into contention and post the clubhouse lead on -8.
However, Taylor held her nerve to shoot a -3 across her nine holes to win by three shots from Geier. She said: “It means a lot because last week [at Sherwood Forest in the English Girls’ Championship] was the first time I shot under-par in a tournament. I’ve done it three times since, all in this week’s competition, and I never expected it to come so soon.
“I knew I was leading, and, on every hole, I was aware that I had either a two or three-shot lead, and I wanted to keep it that way so I could carry on playing the same way.”
Daisy Lee (Lancaster) also had a brilliant day, with a bogey-free -4 to finish joint-3rd alongside Ellie Lichtenhein and Hartmann on -7. Peaford finished 6th (-6) with Rebecca Del Sol-Gonzalez of Wales (-5) in 6th. Elsewhere, there were some fantastic scores across the board over nine holes, with Marta Muñoz Escudero (La Herreria, Spain) and Lily Hawes (Chelmsford) both shooting -6.

The competition was just as exciting in the Under 14s category. Heading into the final day, it was French duo Anouchka Djumic and Jurilayci Kardasik who led the way on –4, with Nordlund one back on -3. Through seven holes, the three players, who were all in the final group together, found themselves locked at the top of the leaderboard at -4, leaving it all to play for with two holes to go.
With a play-off on the horizon, it was Nordlund who edged ahead on the 8th with a birdie. Heading down the last, Djumic and Kardasik were both on the green in three to leave putts for birdie. While Kadasik could only manage par from there, Djumic rolled in her putt to move to -5.
That left Nordlund, who knew that all she had to do was match Djumic to win. With her second approach shot just short of the green, the Surrey native chipped in for an eagle-three to clinch victory by two shots.
Nordlund said: “It means a lot because I’d never won a big tournament before, and I’ve only ever shot unde- par once in a tournament coming into this week.
“The final round was definitely nerve-wracking, I was playing with two of the girls that were in the lead, and I was keeping our scores inside my head the whole time. When I found out that the final round was reduced to nine holes, I was trying to get in the mindset of going for as many birdies as possible.
“On the 9th, I was thinking about how I eagled two holes yesterday and I’d not even birdied this hole yet, so when I got there, I thought ‘what if I chip in’ so I was really happy when I did that!”
With her win in the English Under 14 Championship, Nordlund join the likes of major winner Georgia Hall and LET/LPGA winner Charley Hull to lift this prestigious trophy.
Speaking about that, she added: “Just to see that they [Georgia and Charley] won this tournament when they were younger, and what they have gone on to do, is incredible. Hopefully I can follow in their footsteps too!”
Further back, day-one leader Mila Dodds (Sand Moor) finished tied-4th alongside Icíar Rodriguez (La Dehesa, Spain).
The 2026 English Girls’ Under 16 & Under 14 Championship will take place at Gog Magog in Cambridgeshire.
