Spain’s Martin Cervera Garcia claimed a wire-to-wire victory in the 2025 Reid Trophy after producing two birdies in the final three holes to win by two shots at Fulford Golf Club.

The Spaniard led from start to finish and held his nerve brilliantly to fend off the chasing pack with two crucial birdies on holes 16 and 18 to seal victory.
His closing 71 (-1) was enough to win him the English U14 Open Stroke Play title with a 54-hole aggregate score of -1 (215) ahead of Alfie Turner (Trentham), Oliver Smith (Saffron Walden) and AJ Van Emmenis (Cuddington) who all came in at +1.
Fulford was in glorious display all week, but as the final round began, the wind picked up and the rain began to fall, making for a tricky last 18-holes as Garcia led by one.
With the strong gusts and showers continuing, it was Garcia who proved once again he was up to the challenge with two early birdies.
By the midpoint of the final round, the showers had passed, and the sun came out. Eventually there was light for the chasing pack behind. A double-bogey for Garcia on the par-4 13th, the hardest hole on the course, opened the door for the rest of the field as he dropped back to +1.
With an opportunity presented to them, Turner and Smith capitalised. A 2-under back-nine for Turner in his final round of 69 (-3) and a 1-under back-nine for Smith in his 72 (E) saw them take a share of the clubhouse lead on +1.
It looked set to go to a play-off with Garcia’s momentum stalling after his double-bogey. However, it was all change again on the 16th when the Sotogrande golfer collected his third birdie of the day to edge back ahead.
After parring the 17th, it came down to the last with just a single shot in it. After striking a tee-shot straight down the middle of the fairway, the Spaniard then hit a lovely iron shot onto the green for two. After missing a long eagle putt, the 14-year-old then rolled in for birdie to finish in style and clinch the title.
Van Emmenis, meanwhile, had dropped back after a bogey on the par-4 17th, but even after hitting his second shot long off the back of the 18th green, he chipped close to flag to end with a birdie and also finish on +1 following a level par round of 72.
Behind the trio of Turner, Smith and Van Emmenis, came hard chargers Lionel Mutikainen (Finland) and Leon Godeau (France), who both posted fantastic final rounds of 69 (-3) and 70 (-2) respectively.
Elsewhere, Germany’s Henry Liebwein lit up the leaderboard in his 68 (-4) with an eagle and five birdies to propel him up into a 7th-place finish. Check out the final leaderboard here.
The 2026 edition of the Reid Trophy will take place at Porters Park – the home of the event – where it returns every five years.
