Alison Johns, PGA Professional at Woodhall Spa - the home of England Golf, recently won gold for the women's best gross score in the golf event at the World Transplant Games in Dresden, Germany.

Alison’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. In 2009, her life changed forever when an unknown virus attacked her liver, leaving her critically ill and in desperate need of a transplant.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of organ donation, Alison received a life-saving liver transplant - a gift that gave her a second chance at life.
Reflecting on her win, Alison said: “Competing in the golf event at the World Transplant Games continues to be an experience beyond anything I could have imagined.
"Playing alongside fellow transplant recipients from around the world, each of us representing not just our countries but the incredible gift of life itself, was both humbling and inspiring.
"While I’m incredibly proud of winning the gold medal, the true victory is what this achievement represents. Every person facing a transplant, everyone waiting for their second chance at life, can look at this gold medal and see hope.
"They can see proof that life after transplant isn’t just about survival - it’s about thriving, achieving, and reaching heights you never thought possible.”
Alison’s story is a powerful reminder of the life-changing impact of organ donation, golf and the extraordinary possibilities that can follow.
